Proverbs 16:18

18 Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:25

25 There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.
Jeremiah 17:5

5 This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed is the one who trusts in man,
who draws strength from mere flesh
and whose heart turns away from the Lord.

6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:

Psalm 138:6 (NIV)

though lofty, he sees them from afar.
Psalm 138:6 (KJV)

But the proud he knoweth afar off.
1 John 2:16

16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.
Matthew 7:13-14

13 “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
Practical Tips:
1) Humble Yourself Before GOD- repent, commit to change and pray for God’s power to help.
2) Practice gratitude daily.
3) Check what’s driving your decisions.
4) Stay submitted to GOD’S Word.
5) Invite GODLY counsel and accountability.
WHY PRIDE IS HARD TO SEE:
1) Pride hides behind justification:
2) I’m confident…I’m right…they don’t get it.”
3) We judge others by actions, ourselves by intentions.
4) Pride protects other sins (lust, anger, rebellion)
5) Matthew 7: 3-5 – Beam before speck
PRIDE VS. HUMILITY
Pride says: I don’t feel like praying
Humility says: but I’m praying anyway.
Pride says: I don’t feel like apologizing.
Humility says: but God is calling me to make peace.
Pride says: I don’t feel like asking for help and I don’t think I need it.
Humility says: but maybe I’m missing something and where there is no counsel, the people fail.
Pride says: I don’t feel like serving.
Humility says: but is Christ humbled himself to serve, then who am I to say no?
Pride says: I don’t feel like forgiving.
Humility says: but staying offended keeps me stuck and if I don’t forgive, then God will not forgive me.
